Samsung clearly like to make people work - no idea what prizes are coming other than a "grand prize", but I suspect this is one competition that will reward the hard working dedicated "game"-er!
So what is Mobile PIN - well it seems the idea is to "check-in" to Samsung locations around London, often at very short notice (minutes) and to collect PINs
The main intent is clearly to persuade people to have some hands on time with the SGS3, note, tablets with the incentive of possibly winning a device, or getting extra freebies such as a sgs3 flip cover.
Signup was pretty easy with facebook - the main permission the app requires is the ability to do check-ins, so it looks as if it's layered on top of that facebook function. It also displays a leaderboard of friends check-ins within the app
Sadly I'll be avoiding London for the next few weeks - apparently there's something big on - any ideas? so aren't going to be able to collect pins - but if you're roaming around anyway, happy with sharing location, dedicated & visiting some specific sites then it may be worth a try - might even be in for a chance of winning a prize. That's more than I've achieved from any other check-in app ... though it does remind me a little of Gowalla where the idea was to get pins and compete with friends.
